Duesseldorf the Center of CVA Excellence
Duesseldorf 27.April 2012: CVA SEMINAR A BIG SUCCESS
PRMIA Chapter Duesseldorf invited for a two day seminar on CVA with Jon Gregory. Due to the positive demand two courses in a row have been offered. Both courses have been fully booked. The 60 participants joined from all over Europe, from Island to Russia, from Sweden to Germany.
The hot topics PFE, EE, CVA, Wrong Way Risk and Funding have all been analysed in detail. Clearly Monte Carlo is the state of the art methodology to implement these. Surprisingly Central Counterparties do not resolve the counterparty risk challenge, thus the determination of CVA is key, also in the future.
There is a clear focus on market implied probabilities of default (PDs) due to Basel III. Given IFRS 13 the impact and volatility of CVA and DVA on the balance sheet increase. This impact can be enormous and should not be underestimated by all means. Though there is a dispute on economic foundation of DVA, it has been concluded that both CVA and DVA need to be managed properly.
How is CVA implemented in the real life and how is it managed?
Jon Gregory and Sven Ludwig confirmed: The sponsor and CVA expert Dirk Stemmer (Senior Manager, Deloitte in Germany) offered very valuable and insightful breakfast briefing on the topic “Implementing CVA and the current stage of the financial industry regarding CVA in Germany”.
“A perfect topic, a perfect speaker, extremely well organized. Thank you PRMIA” was the feedback given to Sven Ludwig, Regional Director of PRMIA. Furthermore he emphasized that “After the PRMIA CVA Congress organized by the Dusseldorf Chapter PRMIA Duesseldorf is clearly the center of CVA expertise”.
The participants have been excited about the support of the chapter’s Media Partner RISIKO MANAGER and its bimonthly magazine and are looking forward the next publications on CVA.
