PRMIA Ireland welcomes new steering committee members

PRMIA Ireland has appointed four new additions to its steering committee as part of a wide-ranging rejuvenation of the Dublin-based risk management chapter. The four new appointees will bring many years of industry experience to the committee as well as an extensive list of contacts within Ireland’s risk management circles. They are Alan Bluett of The Panel, a Dublin-based recruitment firm, David O’Donovan of Murex and Richard Pike of Wolters Kluwer and Pedro Angulo of Prospectus HR Consultancy.

Other members of the steering committee comprise Keith McCarthy, Anglo Irish Bank; Christine Bane, AIB; John Cotter, UCD; Nicholas Pratt, freelance journalist and finally the Irish Chapter’s Regional Director Justin McCarthy of the Central Bank of Ireland.

In addition to the new committee members, PRMIA Ireland will also be holding a series of events in 2011 designed to bring risk management issues to the forefront of the agenda within Ireland’s financial services industry. PRMIA Ireland’s next event addresses the issue of stress testing and will feature a presentation by Dr Paul Quigley, the CEO designate of the Institute of Bankers in Ireland. Dr Quigley will discuss the recent stress tests carried out on Irish banks by Blackrock in the wake of the country’s ECB/IMF bail-out and comment on the lessons learned from the failure to implement effective stress testing as a risk management tool

Full details of the event can be accessed at http://www.prmia.org/events/view_events.php?eventID=4483

Besides events, other focuses for the new Steering Committee will be leveraging the existing PRM focus on education and accreditation to help grow Risk Management knowledge in Ireland as well as initiatives such as replying to consultation papers.
