Abstract: With rapidly changing market conditions, companies are reviewing their current and future state of Risk Management blueprints. The PRMIA Risk Thought Leadership series will address some of these trends, with experts from different areas. The first of these series is a session by a leading Risk Management practitioner Jeff Napper. Jeff, Director for ORM at GMAC, USA will discuss some of the emerging aspects in a Risk Manager's role in the industry.
Speaker: Jeff Napper, Director, ORM, GMAC USA. Jeff has over 25 years experience across Risk Management and Financial Services in various roles. He was earlier Sr. Vice President, ERM at Bank of America. His other stints being with MBNA and Partner, Risk Mmgt Solutions (RMS) Consulting.

Oct 2009 - PRMIA Seattle welcomes new Steering Committee members and acknowledges Michael Jones contributions‏
We would like to thank former steering committee member Michael D. Jones , Director, Analytics, The Energy Authority for his extensive contributions to PRMIA Seattle. Michael is relocating to another city and continue to contribute to PRMIA activities. Michael was an active supporter and helped revive PRMIA Seattle with his creative ideas and industry insights. A deep Risk management expert he also led many of our Risk management roundtables. A big thanks and best wishes to Michael from all of us.
We are also happy to welcome two very senior and talented professionals to the PRMIA Seattle Steering committee. Both of them bring valuable experience and deep expertise. Please welcome Betty Ashburn and Dr. Ufuk Ince as they join us to make PRMIA Seattle even more active.
Betsy Ashburn brings more than 20+ years in risk management and internal and external auditing experience to PRMIA, with stints at Barclays Capital and Fannie Mae amongst others. She has a broad background in building and leading highly skilled teams focused on improving risk management processes, compliance to regulatory requirements, and operational efficiency and effectiveness. She has successfully designed and implemented a global enterprise risk management program to meet changing business needs and to integrate regulatory requirements such as Sarbanes-Oxley and Basel II. She also has extensive experience in managing a broad range of internal audits and public accounting engagements. Betsy is a Certified Public Accounting and a member of various professional organizations.
Dr Ukuk Ince - Dr. Ufuk Ince has been on finance faculty and a member of the graduate faculty at the Business Program at the University of Washington in Bothell for the past nine years. Prior to joining the University of Washington, he taught at Georgia State University, where he completed his doctoral work and also obtained his masters degree in finance. He was also the recipient of a teaching excellence award at Georgia State University.
While he was pursuing his doctorate, Dr. Ince also taught Investments and Managerial Finance at Harvard University Summer School, and consulted with several power marketing firms on electric utility restructuring and deregulation. Prior to that, he worked as a researcher at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. He also worked as an engineer in Turkey and Germany after graduating from Bogazici University with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering.
His scholarly work focuses on financial risk management, real options, and valuation of seismic retrofit investments. His recent publications appeared in Journal of Economics and Finance, Journal of Derivatives and Hedge Funds, and Corporate Finance Review. Dr. Ince is a Chartered Financial Analysts and a member of the CFA Institute, Financial Management Association, and American Finance Association. He is the recipient of several National Science Foundation grants that focus on financial modeling of seismic mitigation investments. He is also a fellow for the "Next Generation of Hazard Researchers," another NSF-funded project. He is fluent in Turkish and German and is now learning to converse in Russian.
Currently on leave from the teaching side of academia, Dr. Ince is dividing his time between several research projects, advising a start-up company, and coordinating the newly initiated university relations function at the CFA Society of Seattle.
