PRMIA Vancouver and the Management & Economics Society of CIM (Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum) are pleased to present:
Fred R. Pletcher
Partner, Chair of the National Mining Group
Borden Ladner Gervais LLP
Title: Risks to Corporate Finance Transactions in the Mining Industry: Catastrophic External Events and Internal Technical Disclosure Issues
The presentation will focus on two types of risks to closing corporate finance transactions in the mining industry. The first part of the presentation will look at the impact of catastrophic external events upon corporate finance transactions, with a particular focus on the March 2011 Fukushima Daiichi nuclear incident and its effect on five contemporaneous Canadian equity financings in the uranium sector. The second part of the presentation will look at common internal technical disclosure issues which have led to a number of failed corporate finance transactions in 2011 and 2012.
