PRMIA Names Christopher Whalen Co-Regional Director of Washington DC Chapter

PRMIA today announced the appointment of Christopher Whalen as Washington DC chapter Co-Regional Director. He will join Syed Ahmad, the current Regional Director, as the leader of this 3,000 member chapter.

Mr. Whalen is Senior Vice President and a Managing Director of Institutional Risk Analytics, with responsibility for sales, marketing and business development. He has worked as an investment banker, research analyst and journalist for more than two decades. He edits several newsletters, including The Institutional Risk Analyst and Washington & Wall Street, and contributes regularly to publications such as Barron's and The International Economy.

Mr. Whalen shares his thoughts on the chapter and his new role, "Washington has a very diverse and deep community of professionals, whose interests span the full range of market, credit and operational risk issues. Building on the work of our esteemed chair Syed Ahmad, our objective in the near-term is to increase the frequency of events hosted by the DC chapter and to also begin planning for some larger programs in cooperation with PRMIA worldwide."

Mr. Whalen has been a PRMIA member since 2004. He is currently a member of the Washington DC and New York chapter steering committees and is the Chair of the speakers committee. He also writes a blog that appears regularly on the PRMIA Web site.

Formed in January of 2002, PRMIA is a higher standard for risk professionals, with more than 60 chapters around the world and over 40,000 members from more than 175 countries. A non-profit, member-led association of professionals, PRMIA is dedicated to advancing the standards of the profession worldwide through the free exchange of ideas.
