PRMIA and David R. Koenig Announce Associate PRM Award
PRMIA is pleased to announce that the Associate PRM exam is now available to be taken in nearly 4,000 testing centers in 140 countries around the world. To encourage the growth of the Associate PRM exam in emerging market countries, where many finance professionals are just becoming acquainted with the theory and practice of risk management, David R. Koenig, former Chair of the PRMIA Board of Directors and former PRMIA Executive Director, will donate the $1,000 prize that he received as winner of the 2008 PRMIA Higher Standard Award, to the PRMIA emerging market member who receives the highest score on the Associate PRM exam from September 16 - December 31, 2008.
To be eligible for this award, members must meet the following criteria:
Be a citizen of and live in a country defined as a World Bank Lower Income and Lower-Middle Income Economy
Complete and pass the Associate PRM exam by December 31, 2008
The winner will be the member who scores the most correct answers on the exam, out of a possible 90 questions. If two or more candidates have the high score, the winner will be chosen by David R. Koenig based upon further review. PRMIA will announce the winner in January.
"I am very pleased that PRMIA has broadened its credentialing to include the Associate PRM and am especially pleased to be able to encourage risk managers from emerging markets to take up this challenge," said David R. Koenig.
Easy to obtain study materials and widely available exam options will provide Associate PRM candidates with optimum flexibility to fit the preparation and testing process into their individual work schedules. To take the Associate PRM exam, interested individuals may purchase an exam voucher.
About the Associate PRM
The Associate PRM is a new and innovative PRMIA certificate program intended for staff entering the risk management profession, or those who interface with risk management disciplines on a regular basis, such as audit, accounting, legal, HR and systems development personnel who want to do so more effectively by gaining an understanding of fundamental risk management methods and practices.
Designed to be a non-quantitative evaluation, the Associate PRM can also be a stepping stone to PRMIA's Professional Risk Manager (PRM) designation, covering the core concepts of risk management, while allowing non-specialists to interpret risk management information and reports, make critical assessments, and evaluate the implications and the limitations of such results.
