PRMIA Awards Accreditation to North-West University Quantitative Risk Management Programme
PRMIA today announced that it has awarded Risk Management Accreditation to the Quantitative Risk Management Program at North-West University in Potchefstroom.
The program is designed to identify and endorse university degree programs that prepare candidates for careers as professional risk managers. Students completing appropriate courses within accredited degree programs will be eligible for exemption from PRMIA's Professional Risk Manager (PRM) Exams I and II, which form a major part of the PRM certification program, the global standard for the world's top financial risk professionals. All students will still be required to pass Exams III and IV in the PRM program.
The Quantitative Risk Management Program, a part of North-West University's Centre for Business Mathematics and Informatics (BMI), consists of a three year BSc degree, a one-year honours degree, and a one year Master's degree.
"The PRMIA accreditation of our BSc honours degree programme in Quantitative Risk Management is extremely valuable," says Professor PJ de Jongh, Director of the Centre for BMI. "South African students and their parents place a high premium on internationally recognised degrees, and we now have proof that our degree is recognised by a world leading international professional risk management training body. Also, because we are the first university to receive PRMIA accreditation in South Africa, we can truly claim that our programme is the leading risk management programme in South Africa and on par with the best in the world."
