PRMIA South Africa Chapter invited to speak at Absa’s Risk Academy
One of the co-regional director for the PRMIA South Africa Chapter, Dr Francois van Dyk, was recently invited to address the participants of Absa Bank’s Risk Academy at the bank’s headquarters in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Dr van Dyk (an experienced risk professional and consultant) shared some thoughts with Absa’s emerging risk managers on trends that are shaping the future of bank risk management, the top regulatory trends in banking and some additional detail on conduct and operational risk, including the newly proposed Standard Measurement Approach (SMA) for operational risk. He also shared his experiences on what the PRM designation has meant and contributed to his career to date.
Absa Bank Limited (Absa) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Barclays Africa Group, and the objective of the Absa Risk Academy is to grow the knowledge and exposure of the program’s participants, thereby producing more balanced and rounded bank risk managers.
At the end of 2016, the PRMIA PRMTM was also confirmed as the preferred risk programme for Absa going forward.
The PRMIA South Africa Chapter would like to thank BAGL, Absa Bank and the Absa Risk Academy for the kind invitation and wishes the risk academy only success in nurturing the bank risk managers of the future.
