FRTB and the Compute Bottleneck

FRTB and the Compute Bottleneck

Thought Leadership Webinar: The Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB) is a set of market risk capital rules developed by the Basel Committee.  Regulators adopting the framework will soon begin examining Capital Adequacy provisions at a desk level rather than at an institutional level.  In order to continue using their internal models, banks must begin to share an unprecedented amount of computed risk figures for every trade.  This poses a significant technical and financial challenge for banks without a scalable compute infrastructure.

About This Webinar

The Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB) is a set of market risk capital rules developed by the Basel Committee.

This webinar will cover the reasons for the increased focus on Market Risk, the emerging regulatory expectations, the technical challenges in implementing them, and a look at the public cloud as a solution to part of the problem.

Participants will gain insight into:

  1. The challenges in validating internal models for desk use under FRTB.
  2. Why a financial institutions current infrastructure is probably not sufficient.
  3. High Performance computing solutions using the public cloud.
