Recent years have seen a number of high-profile enforcement actions, fines, and penalties against financial institutions. The increasing threat of punitive measures has spurred increased investment in monitoring techniques, with leading banks seeking to improve detection capabilities.

Within most banks, AML has traditionally been a compliance-led process. So what exactly is the role of risk management? To what extent can established techniques in risk model development and validation improve the quality of detection? To discuss these matters, PRMIA is pleased to welcome the following speakers to a virtual Chapter meeting.

Speakers

Hennie Verbeek is the Head of the Netherlands Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) and Chair of the global Egmont Group of FIUs. She will discuss the scale of the challenge faced by firms globally in safeguarding the financial system and share her insights on emerging best practices.

Diederik Fokkema is the Head of Model Risk Oversight at ING, and will discuss the risk challenge in reviewing, challenging and validating financial crime risk models.

Frank De Jonghe is a Partner at EY Belgium, where he leads Quantitative Consultancy Services practice. He will discuss applications of Model Risk Management to Financial Crime.

Not able to participate in the live event? The event will be recorded and a copy made available to registrants, along with Sustaining, Corporate, RIM, and Contributing Members.
