Blockchain is a combination of technologies creating networks to secure trust among the stakeholders of a series of transactions. It operates on distributed ledger technology (DLT) to facilitate authentication by the users and for storing the information for future reference. The process is done through cryptography and across a peer-to-peer network without the need of any central authority.
Blockchain is presently used in financial transactions, land registration transactions, diamond industry etc. Insurance companies, healthcare sector, trade finance and other sectors are exploring the need, ways, extent, and protocols to adopt blockchain technology.
