A Vision for PRMIA Chapters: Goals for a Successful and Active PRMIA Chapter

PRMIA is built on its network of chapters and recognizes the key role of these grassroots communities. We have a vision of a network of active and successful chapters. This pages details the five goals that we expect as a minimum of a successful chapter. Many chapters do more than this, but having these five items in place is a firm foundation for continued success around the world for PRMIA's chapters.

 1. Regional Directors

Regional Directors are the volunteer leaders for their chapter; You should have a Regional Director and preferably a pair of co-Regional Directors for your chapter.

This gives your chapter leadership and someone who can work with PRMIA globally on the development of your chapter. Assistance, direction and resources for chapter development are available to chapters by engaging with the Global Council of Regional Directors.

2. Active Steering Committee

Have an active Steering Committee - these are the people who will help you meet the rest of the goals listed on this page. You may have someone committed to university outreach or even an events committee.

We recognise that everyone can't volunteer all the time for PRMIA, so having a larger pool of volunteers that make up the Steering Committee will help ensure there are always a few active members.

 3. Regular Chapter Events
Have a few chapter events each year - even if it is just a dozen people in a room talking about risk management, discussing the latest issue of Intelligent Risk or a paper from the PRMIA Institute. Open events help build our grassroots community and allow new people to learn about PRMIA.

Again, don't worry about large, flashy events; This is about letting those in your city or country join our risk management community.

 4. Help Build the Next Generation of Risk Managers
Assist PRMIA with its University Outreach - PRMIA is reinvigorating its University Partnerships and helping us with that will help build the next generation of Risk Managers and PRM designated professionals.

Also we are rebuilding the PRMIA Risk Management Challenge and will need your help again with that in time.

 5. Enable PRMIA to Invest in the Future

Allow PRMIA to meet the Learning & Development requirements of you and others - PRMIA is a non-profit firm, but we need to generate a surplus to invest in our future.

Letting us know about how we can help firms with real risk management needs will really help PRMIA. We are also interested in opportunities related to other activities of PRMIA, including membership and sponsored events.
