PRMIA is Pleased to Announce New Members of the Global Council of Regional Directors
The Global Council of Regional Directors (GCRD) is delegated the responsibility to oversee the overall governance and professional development of PRMIA Regional Directors and their corresponding Chapters. It is the mission of this council to implement strategic planning as it relates to the guidance, governance and enrichment of PRMIA and its chapters in support of the organization’s strategic goals.
Monika Smatralova, PRMIA Ireland, EMEA Region
Dr Monika Smatralova is a senior risk practitioner and has been working in risk function of major high street and captive banks focusing mainly on the credit and operational risk management and measurement and Enterprise risk management. Her academic background is in Financial Risk Management and Banking, Investment and Treasury. Monika is also actively involved in the senior leadership at PRMIA (Professional Risk Managers’ Association), successfully leading the Irish Chapter since 2013. Since 2014, when she was elected, she has been serving as the EMEA Regional Directors Committee Co-Chair. Monika is also a guest lecturer at various universities in Ireland and actively participated at many international conferences with topics covering a range of the Risk Management Area.
Carl Densem, PRMIA Vancouver, Americas Region
Carl Densem is a Financial Risk Management professional at Central 1 Credit Union, a financial services company serving credit unions in British Columbia and Ontario, and commercial clients across Canada. His area of focus is ensuring risk analytics are valuable in decision making by the business. He has previously worked in asset management for ING and Aviva in the United States.
Carl took over as Regional Director of the Vancouver PRMIA chapter in September 2017. Since then, he has built a committed Steering Committee, added two student volunteers (to fill Secretary and Membership Coordinator roles), started a quarterly newsletter for members and nearby chapters, and grown attendance to roughly 30 per event. His ambition is to bring sensible, practical thinking to the Global Council of Regional Directors to grow membership and improve our value proposition.
Fahad Zafar, PRMIA Lahore-Islamabad, APAC Region
Fahad is currently associated with a regional business consultancy as Director Advisory. He has previously worked as Chief Risk Officer of a commercial bank and has also worked as Unit Head/ Risk Manager at other well-known financial services firms. He has also previously worked as Executive Manager at Ernst & Young (EY).
On the educational side, Fahad has MBA from Bradford University United Kingdom and BSc (Hons) Business Information System & IT from Middlesex University, United Kingdom. He regularly writes for leading international publications and academic journals. He also speaks on risk, strategy, and advanced technology related topics at various industry events.
