Congratulations to the 2019 International Challenge winners

Thank you to our 2020 International PRMIA Risk Management Challenge sponsor:

Be a part of an award-winning student competition. The PRMIA Risk Management Challenge (PRMC), a competition of the PRMIA Institute, encourages students from multiple disciplines to use critical and creative thinking skills to solve realistic business problems with a risk management focus. The PRMC develops and strengthens professional and social relationships across students, faculty, and risk professionals. The competition is open to students from around the world.

We are proud to have MathWorks as a Global Sponsor. Mathworks will facilitate MATLAB licenses for each team to ensure AI models can be built and tested on the platform. Learn more about the PRMC's rules.

The PRMC promotes thought leadership and career development for graduate and undergraduate students globally through an international competition. As such, objectives are to:

  • Advance the financial services sector by developing experiences and networks
  • Develop analytical and decision-making skills of future leaders
  • Identify top talent for potential employment opportunities
  • Create opportunities for students interested in risk careers
  • Promote understanding of both hard and soft skills
  • Demonstrate the strategic importance of risk management

This year, two case studies will be selected to simulate up-to-date and real-life risk management challenges in order to offer participants practical experiences in financial services and management consulting.

Student Status

The competition is open to any undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled at the time of registration. Each team member must use their university-affiliated email address to show proof of student status.

Area of Study

Although there are no restrictions regarding the level of coursework required to participate, students are encouraged to have prepared themselves from across any of the following areas of study – finance, economics, mathematics, business or commerce, accounting, marketing, and the like.

Teams of three to four members register together with their nearest participating PRMIA chapter. The Challenge begins with a preliminary round, which is conducted online. All team submissions are evaluated on their approach to cases and, if successful, are chosen to enter the regional and national finals.

The winning team wins a prize up to US$10,000 (subject to US tax laws).
