Bylaws
The PRMIA Board and its Committees adhere to the bylaws approved by membership. Please review for more detail on the election process.
Board Qualities
Golden Principle
All Board members, without exception, should have an enthusiasm for
PRMIA as part of their Duty of Loyalty, Duty of Obedience, and Duty of
Care. Regarding the Duty of Loyalty, potential conflicts of interest
should be evaluated and readily disclosed during nomination processes
and during Board service. See Board Terms of Reference for more detail.
The Board seeks committed PRMIA volunteers, seasoned risk practitioners, and individuals able to contribute resources and capabilities that enhance PRMIA’s long-term impact.
Diversity
The Board seeks to reflect the diversity of PRMIA’s global membership — including diversity of location, race, gender, and thought.
The Board should collectively have world-class knowledge and experience across the risk profession. This includes expertise in the ‘traditional’ risks — market, credit, operational, and liquidity — as well as in emerging areas such as conduct and compliance, technology, and geopolitical or country risk.
Collective experience should span a broad range of industries and lines of business, including commercial banking, investment banking, fund management and pensions, insurance, energy, and the corporate sector.
Board members should represent key regions and cities where PRMIA has significant or growing membership, while ensuring balanced representation across the broader global community.
Network Connectors
A key role of Board members is to make connections and open doors to
other practitioner members, senior leadership, and key decision makers
in order to advance the PRMIA mission. We seek individuals who can support PRMIA efforts by helping to grow membership, sponsorship, and learning and development opportunities.
Certification and Membership
The Board composition is intended to include a significant number of individuals holding PRMIA designations or certificates. Board members are required to maintain a Sustaining membership throughout their term.
Preparation
Nomination submissions will include nominee biographies and a vision statement. Nominees may prepare vision statements by reviewing our activities and financials and speaking with peers on the key issues facing our profession and how PRMIA serves our community.
